Marginal Gains

tribe

Why you shouldn't be too quick to overlook the impact of small improvements!

The theory of marginal gains has changed my life. So much so, I’ve named my Facebook community after it! The 'aggregation of marginal gains' theory is concerned with small incremental improvements, which, when added together, have significant cumulative effects. When it comes to looking for ways to improve our productivity and wellbeing, it's easy to overestimate the value of one grand gesture and overlook the value of small incremental shifts on a daily basis. The reality is, all we need to do is focus on the small 1% shifts we can make, knowing that it's the sum of those moments that will lead to our ultimate success. This theory was pioneered by British Cycling's performance director Sir Dave Brailsford and is what led to their remarkable winning streak after a period of mediocre results. What I love about this theory is that it holds true beyond the world of elite sport.

Join my Facebook community where we focus on the small incremental improvements we can make, that when added lead to significant gains in our productivity and satisfaction.

'A tribe is a group of people connected to one another, connected to a leader, and connected to an idea. For millions of years, human beings have been part of one tribe or another. A group needs only two things to be a tribe: a shared interest and a way to communicate.'

- Seth Godin
